Julie Mar-Spinola Appointed to PPAC of the USPTO
EAST PALO ALTO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/15/15 -- Finjan Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: FNJN), a cybersecurity licensing company, today announced that Julie Mar-Spinola, Chief Intellectual Property Officer, has been appointed to the Patent Public Advisory Committee (PPAC) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Appointments to this prestigious committee are made by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce.
As a member of PPAC, Ms. Mar-Spinola will, along with other members of PPAC, review the policies, goals, performance and budget of the USPTO's patent operations and advise the agency's Director on these areas.

Ms. Mar-Spinola has deep experience and expertise in patent and intellectual property issues. As Chief Intellectual Property Officer of Finjan, Ms. Mar-Spinola is responsible for building the company's IP assets, product development, heading up its legal operations and overseeing its enforcement program and public policies, including patent reform.

Prior to joining Finjan, Ms. Mar-Spinola was general counsel for three technology companies and VP, Global Affairs for a semiconductor company. She is a certified mediator for the US District Court for the Northern District of California, specializing in patent disputes. She is also the Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board of ChIPs (www.chipslaw.org) -- a non-profit that supports, educates, and promotes the advancement of women in IP law, as well as a member of Santa Clara University School of Law's High Technology Advisory Board. Ms. Mar-Spinola was also named a Women Leader in Tech Law in 2014 and a Women Leader in Law in 2012 by The Recorder. Ms. Mar-Spinola also represents inventors on a pro bono basis and networks with other patent attorneys so that they also can do the same.
The Public Advisory Committees for the USPTO were created by statute in the American Inventors Protection Act of 1999 to advise the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO on the management of the patent and the trademark operations.
