Finjan Wins Patent Lawsuit Against Secure Computing, CyberGuard and Webwasher
In our court case (case number 1:07-cv-00690-GMS-MPT) at the US District Court of the District of Delaware against Secure Computing, Cyberguard and Webwasher, the jury found that Secure Computing, CyberGuard and Webwasher infringe three patents that Finjan created over the past decade. The jury further found their infringement to be willful. The jury validated the patent claims asserted by Finjan, finding that the asserted claims were valid and willfully infringed by Secure Computing, CyberGuard and Webwasher. The jury awarded Finjan damages on past sales of the alleged products at a royalty rate of 16% of the Webwasher's software, 8% of the Webwasher appliance and 8% of the CyberGuard TSP appliance. "We are pleased with the jury's decision. We will continue to focus our resources on leading the security industry against the latest wave of cybercrime," said John Vigouroux, President & CEO of Finjan. "It's a great win for Finjan's proactive web security technology. We are pleased with the validation of our patents by the jury," said Yuval Ben-Itzhak, CTO of Finjan.

CRN v9.0 Product Review - Vital Security Offers Vital Protection
CRN reviewed our v.9.0 and published their findings under the heading: Review: Vital Security Offers Vital Protection. In the article, they point out that many security appliances use signatures or heuristic technology to determine if something is malicious, and that we as Finjan approach the problem differently - relying on a real-time code inspection technology that scans each piece of content's code. Each piece of incoming and outgoing Web content on HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP is analyzed regardless of the originating URL and without signature matching. If any kind of malicious code is discovered while scanning each line of code, the content piece blocked automatically. In version 9, Finjan is using both static and dynamic code analysis while scanning. If a HTML page contains malicious code, Vital Security can remove that specific part and display the rest to the end-user, or block the entire page altogether.
The article concludes that considering the number of malicious code out on the Web that can damage hardware, steal sensitive data, compromise privacy, and clog up network bandwidth, an appliance like Finjan's Vital Security can make a difference in organizations concerned about security and compliance

February 2008 - More Than 8,700 FTP Server Credentials in the Hands of Hackers
This analysis shows the commercialization of stolen FTP server credentials of legitimate companies as well as how the deployment of ready-made Crimeware toolkits has gained momentum. It takes a close look at the latest version of one of those Crimeware toolkits - NeoSploit version 2. When examining a server hosting the latest version of this Crimeware toolkit, we also found an almost unnoticeable standalone application, especially designed to abuse and trade stolen FTP account credentials of legitimate companies around the world. More than 8,700 FTP servers' credentials of highly respected organizations and enterprises were thus stolen, including valid user names and passwords.
